Top 5 favorite travel-related books

I thought that I would make a short list of my favorite travel books. Although it was not my intent, all 5 of these books are based on true stories and the actual travel experiences of the writer.

Travel memoirs are certainly one of my favorite genres of books to read and I hope you check out some of the ones listed below if you haven’t already read them.

Vagabonding is more of a travel guide with lots of advice and specific websites and resources. If you’re planning an upcoming trip, it would be a great book to check out before you leave.

These are not ranked in any particular order.

1. The Lost Girls

2. Hope Runs: An American Tourist, A Kenyan boy, a Journey of Redemption

3. Vagabonding

4. Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love & Redemption

5. Eat Pray Love

The Motivation Manifesto: FREE book & course

The Motivation Manifesto is a poetic and powerful call to reclaim our lives and find our own personal freedom. It’s a triumphant work that transcends the title, lifting the reader from mere motivation into a soaringly purposeful and meaningful life. I love this book.”

Paulo Coelho, author of THE ALCHEMIST

I just wanted to share a great book and resource that I recently discovered. Brendan Burchard is the author of numerous books including: The Charge, The Millionaire Messenger, Life’s Golden Ticket, and most recently, The Motivation Manifesto.

I have read all of his previous books and am excited to read his latest release.

Through his website, Brendan is actually giving away FREE copies of The Motivation Manifesto. The only catch is that you do have to pay $7 for shipping. However, I think that $7 for a hardbook book is still a great value.

To learn more, feel free to watch the video below or click here to be re-directed to the Motivation Manifesto website.

Also, as a bonus for ordering the book on his website, you will receive access to a free 12 week course that will go over the book in great detail.

Even though I haven’t received the book in the mail yet, I’ve already started week 1 of the course, and I love it so far.

check out the free MOTIVATION MANIFESTO

So, for $7 in shipping, here is everything that I received:

  1. Free hardcover book + 12-week Motivation Manifesto online course. (Value $297)
  2. Free tools and action worksheets to help you find even more clarity and motivation. (Value $97)
  3. Free Facebook group with Brendon for 12-weeks (Priceless. Ask him anything)

If you are looking for a new book to read, I hope you take advantage of this great offer. Brendan is a dynamic speaker and has a lot of wisdom to share.

Have a wonderful week!

Modern Mrs Darcy 2015 Reading Challenge

2015-Reading-Challenge

Hi Friends,

I’ve decided to take on a new reading challenge for 2015. Anne, at the blog Modern Mrs Darcy is hosting a new challenge for 2015 with 12 categories of books for the new year.

I’m excited to get started and will try to and read one book a month from each of these categories.

I was immediately drawn to this particular reading list because I think it will be a good opportunity to try reading some new books that I wouldn’t normally pick up or try.

Feel free to head over to the Modern Mrs Darcy website to check out all of the details and read more.

June trip to California

I thought that I would give you a brief glimpse into my recent trip to northern California.

Josh and I had the most amazing time and were able to make several trips to San Francisco.

We also met up with a few of our friends including a friend from grad school that I hadn’t seen since we graduated several years ago.

Obviously, a day trip would not be complete without at least one cup of coffee. I enjoyed trying Ritual coffee for the first time and tasting my favorite (Oakland Coffee Roasters) for the first time in 2 years!

Although it seemed like we were always doing something and running from place to place, I still found time to start reading a great book called Love, Skip, Jump. We also had a great time skyping with two of our best friends Jah-Jah and Sydney.
